Casa do Mar has been developed from the combination of two traditional houses on the front at Santa Luzia. The original buildings had been derelict for a number of years and during the renovation process it soon became clear that the interior wall structure was full of damp rising from beneath and as such the entire interior wall system was removed and replaced with an iron girder internal structure that met all modern day standards even for earthquakes and created the new starting point for the development.
After a considerably frustrating period where the intervention of local bureaucrats and a less than friendly local builder and neighbour delayed matters some 9 months the project has finally come to fruition.
The two properties are now one single apartment building that houses two 2 bedroom apartments and one studio apartment on the top floor. The design also enables whole house lettings or even two of the three depending on client requirements.
