Santa Luzia is located within the Concelho of Tavira. That is the equivalent of the Council in England with Santa Luzia being a parish. The city of Tavira is situated about 2 kilometres from Santa Luzia and is the main urban area and the administration centre.

The splendour of the city of Tavira is exemplified by its history and there is no better way of seeing this than through its buildings and monuments.  ROMANBRIDGETAVIRARanging from the historic castle and walls together with the ´Roman Bridge´to the more modern Mercado da Ribeira.

Tavira has over 30 churches and chapels. Although many were affected by the 1755 earthquake, they were painstakingly re-built and now provide an amazing feature of this beautiful historical city in the Algarve. See Tavira-Today´s page on churches for a more detailed incite into this wonderful historical legacy.

There are also many wonderful cafés and restaurants to visit so feel free to try their wares.
