SANTA LUZIA CAFÉ'S
There seems to be a café on every corner in Santa Luzia and and this is no surprise with the café being the equivalent to the English pub from a social point of view. The Portuguese love their coffee and it comes in many shapes and sizes. It tends to be stronger than the type one normally finds in the UK and Ireland with the espresso being particularly strong. If you want milk with your coffee you can ask for a Meia de Laite or Galão.
Coffee is not the only drink you will find in the local Cafés. Tea is becoming more prevalent with the increasing number of tourists and all cafés will serve alcohol with the local beers Sagres and Super Bok being very popular. Cakes, sandwiches, toasties and other snacks are also available.
